![]() Like his father before him, Harrison is a crisp route runner that can separate with exceptional hands in order to make tough catches in a crowd when needed. In 2022, Harrison finished the season with 1,263 yards receiving to go along with 14 touchdowns on an efficient 16.4 yards per reception. Harrison broke out in 2022 with one of the most dominant seasons we have seen from a power-five receiver over the past few seasons. If you take positional value out of the equation, there is an argument to be made that Harrison is the best prospect in next year's draft class. With the first-round pick that the team received from the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft, I have the Cardinals selecting wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. With some talented weapons on offense and one of the better defenses in the NFL, the Commanders would be set up quite well to win right away with Williams on a rookie contract despite giving up a significant amount of draft capital to acquire him. The Commanders will try out the Sam Howell experiment this season, but they need a long-term answer at the quarterback position if they are to be a relevant franchise under its new ownership. Combined with a good arm and an innate ability to escape pressure, Williams has the makings to be a difference-maker right away in the NFL.įor Washington, this would make too much sense if they are in the position to trade up for a Williams. Even though he lacks prototypical size, Williams is a master at working off-script to make highlight reel throws, with his 6.0% big-time throw rate ranking among the best in college football last season. In 2022, Williams finished the year with 4,537 yards passing to go along with 42 touchdowns and only five interceptions. After starting his collegiate career at Oklahoma, Williams followed head coach Lincoln Riley to USC and followed up a promising freshman season with a dominant sophomore campaign. While it is still early in the process, Williams is projected to be the prize of the 2024 class as a franchise-changing prospect with elite-level playmaking ability at the quarterback position. With the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, I have the Washington Commanders trading up with the Arizona Cardinals to select quarterback Caleb Williams out of USC. Now that is all out of the way, let's get to the mock draft.Ĭardinals: 1.5, 2.39, 3.70, 2025 1st round pick, 2025 2nd round pick.Ĭommanders: 1.1, 4.133, 2025 4th round pick. While it is early and team needs will change as the year progresses, think of this as an exercise to preview not only the upcoming class of prospects but also to look ahead to what teams will need to address next offseason. I also limited myself to only one trade in this mock draft so as not to make things too confusing, as it's generally too early to mock trades in general. I used the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator for this mock, so I am going off of the draft order that it has established as well as the early version of its big board for next year's class. That said, the headliner of next year's draft is at quarterback, with Caleb Williams and Drake Maye expected to be the top two names selected at the position when it is all said and done.įor the purpose of this mock draft, keep in mind that it is early so a lot is expected to change between now and the time that the draft rolls around next year. ![]() Defensively, edge rusher is a position group that has already garnered some buzz as well with some talented prospects expected to enter the draft as well. ![]() The offensive line is also expected to be a strength of next year's group with multiple tackles expected to go high in the first round. and Brock Bowers at the top of many boards, the 2024 draft promises to have more explosive playmakers compared to the 2023 group that was largely seen as underwhelming by many scouts and draftniks. With superstar players such as Marvin Harrison Jr. Looking ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft, there is a lot to be excited about for next year's class.
